FAQ
Everything you want to know about ILTY — how it works, who it's for, and why we built it the way we did.
ILTY is an AI mental health companion app for iOS. You talk to one of four AI companions about what you're going through, and they help you process emotions, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and end every conversation with a concrete next step. It's not therapy — it's support for the 23 hours between therapy sessions, or for people who don't have access to therapy at all.
ILTY stands for "I Love Talking to You." It's the feeling we want people to have — that they've found a space where they can actually be honest about how they're feeling without judgment or toxic positivity.
Anyone who needs someone to talk to about what's going on in their head. That includes people with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, grief, burnout, overthinking, or just a rough day. ILTY is for people who are tired of apps that tell them to breathe and want something that actually engages with their situation.
No, and we'd never claim to be. ILTY is a mental health support tool for daily clarity, not crisis intervention or clinical treatment. If you're in crisis, please contact a mental health professional or call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). ILTY works best alongside therapy, not instead of it.
If you're in immediate danger, please call 911. For mental health crises, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) — available 24/7, free, and confidential. Text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line. ILTY includes crisis detection and will direct you to these resources, but it is not a crisis service.
ILTY has four companions, each with a distinct approach: Mr. Relentless is direct and action-oriented (tough love, zero BS). Stoic Advisor is grounded and wise (perspective and calm). The Architect is strategic and structured (breaks complex problems into steps). Mindful Guide is patient and validating (awareness and gentle processing). You can switch between them anytime based on what you need.
Yes, anytime. Many users pick different companions based on their current state. Need to stop overthinking and act? Mr. Relentless. Need perspective? Stoic Advisor. Need to break down a problem? The Architect. Need validation? Mindful Guide.
You open the app, pick a companion, and start talking about whatever's on your mind — just like texting a friend who's trained in mental health support. The companion responds to what you actually say, asks follow-up questions, challenges unhelpful patterns, and ends each conversation with a concrete action step.
ChatGPT is a general-purpose AI assistant. ILTY is purpose-built for mental health with therapeutic guardrails, crisis detection, distinct companion personalities, end-to-end encryption, and conversations designed to end with actionable steps. ChatGPT might chat about your feelings; ILTY is designed to actually help you process them.
Yes. ILTY maintains context across sessions so you don't have to re-explain your situation every time. It builds understanding of your patterns and progress over time.
Yes. Your conversations are stored on your device with end-to-end encryption. We never sell your data, show ads, or use your conversations to train models. You can delete everything at any time. Mental health is personal — your data should be too.
No. We don't sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. We don't show ads. We don't build profiles. Your conversations stay between you and the app.
Yes. You can delete individual conversations or all your data at any time from within the app. When you delete it, it's gone.
ILTY is free to download on iOS. After onboarding, a subscription is required to access the full experience — $12.99/month or $99.99/year, both with a 1-week free trial. You can cancel anytime through your Apple ID settings.
ILTY is currently available on iOS (iPhone). Android isn't planned yet — we're iOS-first because building one platform well beats building two badly. If you want Android, join the waitlist at ilty.co/android. Enough signups and we build it.
Not yet. We're iOS-only right now and we're not making vague "coming soon" promises. There's an Android waitlist at ilty.co/android — every signup is a vote that decides whether we build it. No marketing emails in between, just one note when it ships.
No. You can start using ILTY immediately without creating an account, providing an email, or going through a sign-up flow. Just download and start talking.
No. ILTY was built specifically because we were tired of toxic positivity. We don't tell you everything happens for a reason or to look on the bright side. We focus on honest reflection and concrete next steps. No fluff — just clarity.
ILTY can provide supplemental support for people managing these conditions, but it doesn't replace professional treatment. For PTSD, OCD, clinical depression, and other diagnosed conditions, ILTY works best alongside a therapist or psychiatrist — not instead of one.
Yes. ILTY's conversations draw on principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and acceptance-based approaches. The companions apply these principles naturally through conversation, not as a curriculum.
ILTY includes crisis detection, safety resources, and appropriate therapeutic guardrails. However, for teens with serious mental health concerns, we strongly recommend professional support. ILTY can be a helpful supplement, but a qualified therapist should be the primary resource for adolescent mental health.
