Will There Be an ILTY Android App? Honest Answer.

Update (August 2026): ILTY is on Android. It launched on Google Play on August 15, 2026. Get it here, or read the honest story of why it took eleven months and what's actually in the build. The original post is kept below, largely unedited, because the reasoning is the honest record of how the decision got made — and because a fair number of you signed up to the waitlist that decided it.

Short version: yes. ILTY is on Android, on Google Play, as of August 2026.

The rest of this post is the reasoning from when the answer was still no. We're leaving it up rather than quietly rewriting history — partly because the waitlist argument turned out to be true, and partly because "we'll build it if enough of you ask" is a promise worth being able to point at afterwards.

Why iOS first

Solo founder. One codebase. The math is simple.

Building two mobile platforms in parallel means splitting attention between two stacks, two app store review processes, two sets of platform-specific bugs, two sets of paywall integrations, two analytics pipelines. The output isn't two apps — it's one app with half the focus, twice.

iOS got the first build for three concrete reasons:

  1. Paywall conversion. iOS users convert on subscription paywalls at meaningfully higher rates than Android users. This is a known industry pattern, not an opinion. For a hard-paywall product like ILTY, that gap funds the rest of the work.
  2. Platform fit. ILTY's voice is direct, sometimes confrontational. The companions push back. iOS users — generally — opt into that kind of product. Android's audience is broader, which means more diverse expectations and more support load before the product is even mature enough to defend itself.
  3. Tooling speed. SwiftUI + Apple's APIs let one person ship features fast. Android's ecosystem is good, but "good for a team" is not the same as "good for a solo founder shipping weekly."

None of this is anti-Android. It's a sequencing decision driven by who can be served well today versus who has to wait.

What would change the calculus

The Android waitlist is not a vanity number. It's the deciding input.

Here's what we're actually watching:

  • Volume. Twenty signups doesn't justify a second platform. A few thousand does. There's a real threshold and we'll publish it when we hit it.
  • Source quality. Where the signups come from matters. Organic search traffic from people typing "is ILTY on Android" is a stronger signal than referral traffic that drove curiosity clicks.
  • Engagement after signup. People who sign up and then engage with the iOS-side content (read the blog, use the free tools) prove they actually want the product, not just the platform.

When the numbers cross the threshold, Android moves to the top of the roadmap. Until then, every shipping day goes into making iOS better — better companions, deeper insights, smarter retention loops, fewer rough edges.

What you can do

If you want ILTY on Android:

  1. Join the waitlist. One email, one click. That's the vote.
  2. Send the link to other Android users who'd want this. Word-of-mouth signups carry more weight than traffic we paid for.
  3. Don't wait politely. If you're skeptical or curious about specific features, tell us. Specific demand reads differently than passive interest.

We won't email you marketing in between. The next time you hear from us about Android is when it's live, or when we've decided not to build it. Either way, no fluff.

The honest version

Most "we're working on Android" posts from small startups are a hedge. They're written to keep Android users from leaving without committing to anything.

This post was the opposite. At the time it was written we were not working on Android — we said we'd build it if and when the demand was real enough to justify the cost, and that the waitlist was how we'd measure that.

The demand was real enough. Android shipped in August 2026.

Either way, thank you for not pretending.
